At the Laurel Highlands Workforce & Opportunity Center (LHWOC), our program equips you with the practical skills and hands-on experience needed to step confidently into entry-level clinical and administrative roles.
Program Overview
Our PSA program focuses on entry-level healthcare support. You’ll learn how to:

Assist patients with daily activities

Provide non-clinical support to healthcare teams
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment
-
Master the use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
By the end of the program, you’ll be fully prepared to step into a rewarding position in patient care support.
What You’ll Earn

Patient Service Associate Diploma
-
Hands-on experience through a 2-week externship
-
Eligibility to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam as a Clinical Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA)

The skills and confidence to begin a meaningful healthcare career
Program Snapshot

Length: 3-months / 12-weeks (10-weeks of class + 2-week externship)

Total Hours: 373 clock hours

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Externship: 2-weeks in a real healthcare setting (schedule varies)

Apply your skills during a 2-week externship with one of our trusted healthcare partners:
UPMC and Independence Health System.
Requirements: Before beginning your externship, you’ll need a physical exam, 2-step TB test, proof of immunizations, and a drug screening.
National Certification Opportunity
Graduates may be eligible to sit for the National Certification in Healthcare as a Medical Administrative Assistant—giving you even more career options and professional recognition.
